Volunteer Your Time

The Thorne Bay Public Library is entirely volunteer run, and as such needs a lot of support to keep it up and running!

Specifically, we are looking for people to fill the following positions:

Weekend Library Volunteers - Volunteers are wanted to cover shifts on the weekends. Volunteers will be responsible for manning the library by themselves, including checking in and out books, recording library use, and assisting guests.

Gardeners - We will have ten available beds in the Children's Garden when it is finished. Individuals, families, organizations, or other groups can sponsor a bed for year.

Program Leaders - Have a skill that you want others to learn? Have a topic that you want to discuss with the community? Lead a program! For more information, contact the Library Director.

Make a Donation

Public Libraries cannot thrive without the support of the community. We greatly appreciate any donations, in the form of books, supplies, or monetary donations. Donations are used to support programming, as well as the exciting projects we are working toward in the future!

If you are interested in volunteering or donating to the library, please stop by while we are open or contact us at the number listed above. Thank you for your support!

Plans For The Future

Garden: As of summer 2017, the Thorne Bay Library will be starting a garden project, designed to benefit the children of the community by teaching them about healthy eating and sustainable Alaskan nutrition.

Tool Shed: The library is currently applying for grants to allow us to build a tool shed for the purpose of allowing members of the community to check out a variety of tools.

New building: We are in the process of acquiring a new building to house our library.
